Under the Sun

Reach up and try to hold back the wind
A futile attempt I make once again
Searching for meaning in all that I see
Am I gone blind or is it all vanity?

Each day we toil storing up wealth
But when we die it goes to somebody else
Wisdom is sought but the more we possess
We can't add to our life a day or a breath

I know there must be more than this
Or is it all vanity and meaningless?
I know there must be more than this
Or is it all vanity and meaningless?

There's nothing new under the sun
What we can do is what's already been done
As one generation passes away
Another one comes and takes it's place
The work of my hands as I labor in vain
Attempting to build for myself a name
To be immortalized within the legacy
Of a memory that will soon fade with me

I know there must be more than this
Or is it all vanity and meaningless?
I know there must be more than this
Or is it all vanity and meaningless?

No amount of wealth, wisdom or strength
Will ever change a thing
And I watch my life slip away
Like a memory slowly fading
And I think to myself

Is there more than this?
Well I believe there is
Is there more than this?
Well I believe there is
Is there more than this?
Well I believe there is

Is there more than this?
Well I believe there is
Is there more than this?
Well I believe there is
I believe there is more to life
I believe there is more to life than this

I know there must be more than this
Or is it all vanity and meaningless?
I know there must be more than this
Or is it all vanity and meaningless?
