Crushing Eagles

This is not an answer it is more of a question
I need a direction and brand new suggestion
This is not a statement about any behavior
I don't need a savior or another crusader

We've been crushing eagles for a few generations
Don't change the station or take a vacation
We've been crushing eagles to verge of extinction

I recognize the motives from the pamphlets they gave us
A religious man trained us now he will drain us
I recognized his motives but he's nothing like Jesus

No one wants to save us from our futile existence
It's nothing if not a lack of persistence
No one's reaching out to save us but who will forgive us?

I've been looking for the wrong reaction
Never had so much as any satisfaction
I've been looking for the wrong reaction

The questions and the answers are all interrelated
The hungers have been sated and our ideals are faded
The answers to your questions can't be translated

I'm only looking for ideas for the next generation
Will we leave them a nation or a broke corporation
The stockholders are smiling because nobody's buying

Is your head buried or are you really watching
There's nothing too shocking while the new press is gawking
Are you even worried about the lies that they tell us?

You've been warned before so what could I tell you
But I don't want to sell you or try to compel you

What else can I do?
