Spotify: 70% of Queen’s listeners are aged under 35
Streaming giant Spotify unveiled some figures about the audience on its service for Queen, following the rock band’s recent biopic-fuelled spike in listening.
A post on the company's official website says:
On Spotify, Queen is more popular than ever – not only among baby boomers and Gen Xers, but with millennials, too. Since the release of the Bohemian Rhapsody film, streams of Queen songs on Spotify have surged 333 percent, with 70 percent of those listeners under the age of 35.
The blog post also notes that even before the recent movie, Queen had been the “top catalogue artist” on its service between 2010 and July 2018. At the time of writing, Queen’s public Spotify profile reveals that the band have 39.2 million monthly listeners on the platform, making them the 15th biggest artist on Spotify. And as with many other artists, the band’s top cities are in Latin America, including 1.3 million listeners in Mexico City and hundreds of thousands in Santiago, São Paulo and Buenos Aires.
