Home Sweat Home

I need me two full days to have one clear thought
Wishin' for something medicinal, or even store bought
I finally hang on to one idea
And then the kids come in with their squabblin' 'til I'm home
Don't get me wrong now
I love it, I'm home

And this old head I'm wearin'
Well, it's worn right through
Lets a little sun in
Whole lotta rain too
Down from the ground to the brim
The sweat has changed the colour a whole halftone
I oughta just hang it up and at least I'd be home

Headed off to the airport
Another tour impending
Nothing much new to report
Just the ol' unending
Get the terminal feeling and
They upgrade to seat two B for too many miles flown
But to be or not to be ain't home

Jet lag soundcheck
All out of sync
My watch can't be correct
Man I can't think
I've been shoved into a future while
My past is living in a whole 'nother timezone
I've been gifted with a present so far from home

When I'm finally done with work
And I'm headed back
I get stuck like some poor jerk
Right in my track
The storm has failed connection here
In Paris, or is it Dallas, or maybe it's Rome

All I know is I'm nowhere
Just wanna get on back there
It should come as no surprise
They don't even realize
They're all gettin' on with their lives
All my children and ex-wives
It seems, here in my dreams, deep in my sleep
I have to home, I swear come home

The green, green grass
Of home
The grass is always greener at home
