City Farewell

I leave the city, while it's sleeping
People go to bed now, start believing
I leave this city, follow streetlights
Passing by a fox I used to feed at midnight

So came fire, let there be rain
Sleeping beauties will be cursed again
Look for foxes in the city light
Stay in bed now, have a real good night

I see the skyline, in the rear view
Isn't this familiar? Such a clear view
And no one noticed, my good intensions
People everywhere are paying inattention

Sort of fantasy, my resignation
People find me laughing, no more, medication
I read the paper, another wakening
Leaning towards meaning makes it so relieving
