The Difference Between Us

When first we met
I saw your lovely eyes look into mine
Then dart away for just an instant
To the part of me that says is different
Embarrassed, you try to hide the fact that you've noticed
You would not want to hurt my feelings
How droll

Speak it out
The question I read in your eyes
Why is he set this way apart from me
Is there really a pointed difference between us

There stirs in me a curiosity to know these feelings
For if just once I could command the change in me
And come to know them
Perhaps I'd comprehend what makes you what you are
And in reverse
If you could live for just a moment
In my world
And recognize what makes me what I am
Perhaps that would the catalyst be
To harmonize the difference between you and me
