Watercolour Days

I watch colours that fade
and it breaks my mind
Waiting as darkness falls
so my eyes can be blind
All my dreams have gone bad
and no-one can help me
It's hard to understand why
everything must fade away

Like watercolour days, a misty haze
when that girl was mine now she's gone away,
it's over
Dead like the leaves on the trees
When the Summer's gone
For how was I to say
what she could or could not do, and
I have become a Watercolour Man

I watched Smokey grow old
and it broke my mind
Watching his colours fade
as he ran out of time
All his dreams had gone bad
and no-one could help him
It's hard to understand why
everything must fade away
