Daffodils

It's been a long season
Of ice and of snow
The frozen glow as the sun slips away
I pull the blankets up
And cover my head
I'll just stay in bed another day

When the winter wind is blowing again
And the arctic air is keeping me in
I have faith that spring is around the bend
And the daffodils will appear again
And the daffodils will appear in the new year

I know that underneath
They're lying in place
To show their face up to the sun
Like all the music in
My tired heart
Waiting to start when winter is done

When the winter wind is blowing again
And the arctic air is keeping me in
I have faith that spring is around the bend
And the daffodils will appear again
And the daffodils will appear in the new year

Falling rain will wash the snow away
And clouds will fade from the sky
And I will find the voice that hasn't made a sound
Since the maple trees dropped their leaves
Upon the frozen ground

When the winter wind is blowing again
And the arctic air is keeping me in
I have faith that spring is around the bend
And the daffodils will appear again
And the daffodils will appear in the new year
