See You in My Heart

Dear Lord Krishna
I tried to examine the wonder of Your person
So I stole Your friends and calves
Just to see what You would do
But You have energies that are inconceivable to me
Now all that I can say is just consider today

I took away your friends and hid them all
In a moment I came back and found You were all alone
Then and there, You expanded Yourself
Into a set of the very same boys with their calves
Their forms were all Your own

And when these friends each turned into a Vishnu form
Being adored by creators like me
Then I knew You were the Source of everyone
And the Maintainer of everything we see

Suddenly each Vishnu was wound up into You
All by Your invisible command
And there you were, wandering alone again
Searching for Your friends and calves
And eating food out of Your hand

Thus I saw You outside, and I see you are within
You are where I stop, You are where I begin
Expanding to become each one of us
You then reside, inside, to accompany us
O source and substance of spiritual light
Seeing You, there's no more beautiful sight
You are where we end, You are where we start
I pray I may always see You in my heart

This material world is like a flashing dream
And its fleeting nature disturbs the minds of everyone
But gaining Your shelter, one no longer lives
in this dream that holds us sway
And the spiritual sky is not at all far away

Though always expanding, You are always complete
No second identity can compete
One may journey through darkness in search of what's true
But the best thing is wanting just to be with You
O source and substance of spiritual light
Seeing You, there's no more beautiful sight
Hearing your glories, we're never apart
I pray I may always see You in my heart
