Absolution

I can't walk away
My hands are tied
In self-indulgence and false pride
All reactions from inside
They govern all emotion

In all my years of inner war
What I have touched I have absorbed
What I became I have abhorred
Events are set in motion

I do not care how it seems
My penchant for forgetting dreams
My inner strength goes to extreme

I bear the burden of the sin
I have begotten and begin
To search for heaven and enter in
But how could I enjoy it?
I've spent a lifetime beating myself
Campaign for heaven, creating hell
A neighborhood I know too well
You could say I call it home

In all I've done
This chosen course
I've been ashamed
I've felt remorse
But now embrace my higher force
And trust it for it's guidence

So be it instinct
Or gestalt
Learned responses
Or self-taught
I now deny
My soul's assault
And I absolve
And I absolve

Absolution
