Inventing the Solitude

It only took me
A few short seconds
A glimpse of all that was you
A close encounter
Of something precious
To loose myself into
And though unspoken
You showed me something
This other world that was new
While we were talking
Just about nothing
Like we were supposed to
And matters won't let me act
And like before
I'm standing back
Inventing the solitude
Over again
I'm building these walls and I'm
Staying within
This state of seclusion I've built upon fear
Of letting you see me
Of letting you near
I'm inventing the solitude again
And though I know
That I'll never do all those
Things I certainly should
This taste of doubtfulness
Should have left me now
If this was all for good
So I push you
Into oblivion
Afraid of what I might feel
While still keeping this recollection
To know that you were real
And I do what I do best
Neglect my heart
Put it to rest
Inventing the solitude
Over again
I'm building these walls and I'm
Staying within
This state of seclusion I've built upon fear
Of letting you see me
Of letting you near
I'm inventing the solitude again
