Old Red Barn

I learned how to work hard
And what it meant to be a man
In an old red barn my grandpa built
With his bare hands
Well I mucked the stalls
And through some hay
And more than once watched daddy fall
Down on his knees and pray

In that barn I learned so many things
I saw both the joy and the hardships it could bring
It's where stole my first kiss at fifteen out back
Where daddy found grandpa after his heart attack
I wish I could just go back
To that old red barn

That old barn is gone now
It has been for sometime
See those oil rigs found their way in
After the drought in ninety-nine
But in my mind I see that barn
Yeah, I see it so clear
And I remember grandpa catching me
(When I was) Sneaking my first beer
