Tossing & Turning

The rain is
Pressing its lips on the window
The clouds are
Clouding my thoughts from the darkened sky
Everything's as it should be
Everything's fine but me
I'm not sure why

Tossing
And turning helps nobody down here
Tell that
To Mother Nature's forces of natural law
If I only knew the law
If I only knew the law

Then I'd know why I'm breathing
And tossing and turning
And loving and leaving
It's hard to believe in something or someone
When the light from the moon
Is just the sun

The dawn is
Floating its flags out my window
And noon slips
By like a thief in the night
Everything's as it should be
Everything is new but me
And this unrest inside

The daylight
Loosens her grip of my coastline
The sun sets
And colors the sky with her bruise
Oh invisible forces
If I knew
How you heal

Then I'd know why I'm breathing
And tossing and turning
And loving and leaving
It's hard to believe in something or someone
When the light from the moon
The light from the moon
Is just the sun
