The Tale of the Cockney Pirate

There was once a Cockney pirate who sailed the seven seas
And the rivers come to mention it, whatever fit his needs
He'd take stuff from the richest and give back to himself
Save a little for his shipmates who would give their life to help
He was hunted by the gentry for mocking them like fools
Seized castles in the dead of night, took everything there but the walls

The bastard of a harlot, well at least the story goes
Spun from docks of East London, a pirate's life he chose
No one could ever be as loved as a pirate so they say
A lady's man, a loyal friend, charming in every way
Tonight I ask you kindly to raise your glass and toast
For he is here amongst us, not in body but in ghost
