An Old Man Learns To Fly

An Old Man sits on his front porch and he smiles
He smiles 'cause he feels the wind and he sees the sun
He smiles because he knows he's had a good life
And he smiles because he knows his life is almost done

He say "Thank you Lord for thinking about me,
And showing me what to do,
And the Lord says, Boy, you remembered me,
So I wanna thank you too."

"Goodbye children, it's time for me to fly."

He looks back on all the things he's had
And how the best things weren't his to have
He's scared to death but he knows that he can face it
'Cause his friend said, "Old boy, there's no need to be sad."

He says "Thank you for the freindly advice,
I hope I can pay you back,
And his friend says old boy, you kept me company,
I couldn't ask for more than that."

"Goodbye children, it's time for me to fly."
Oh Lod, ain't it funny, the best things ain't yours to have?

He gathers his children all around him,
And sees compassion in each ones eyes,
Lays down his head and says, "Take me home Lord,
This world will be just fine,

Goodbye children, it's time for me to fly.
Goodbye children, I finally learned to fly."

Oh, Lord, ain't it funny...?
