Should I Stay or Go

I heard a voice, outside my cell, say your a free man
Without hesitation, I stood up, and took the man's hand
Got to the door, stopped in my tracks (Ah Shhhh)
I'm on these streets again, since I was ten and five
In jail I've spent my life, how will i ever survive

Oh lord will you let me know
(let me know, let me know)
Should I stay or, should I go
(well,well, well)(well, well, well)
I've been in the pin, such a long long time, to want to stay longer
I'm out of my mind, but the stories I've heard over the years
All say I'm safer here

Well I'm going back, to my home place, my family's gone
Whom's not in their graves, I saw an old lady
That I use to know, from throwing stones at back door
She called me in her house, as she closed the door
Say son them safe streets you walked is no more
So now I'm thinking back to my time
Them fools back then, didn't have minds
It seems I have one feet in that prison door
So I'ma ask this question once more

Well I'm not the man, that I use to be, I cant believe
There's fear in me, as I walk these streets, feeling kinda scared
I found a nine millimeter aimed at my head
Now the guy with the gun didn't recognize me
But I knew that boy from the age of three
He said your life or your money, don't make me choose
I hate to put blood on your county blues, and as he stared at me
He mumble and laugh, he say the streets aren't for me, my time has passed
As i thought about, what he said, too late, I heard the click, go through my head
And now I have one feet into heavens door, I'ma ask this question once more

I've been on this earth, such a long long time
To want to stay longer, I'm out of my mind
When the stories I've heard, of sweet heavenly
Will only free me
THANK GOD I'M FINALLY FREE
