Good Night, I'm Alive

When I was young I painted images of
Sinning saints with aversion and misanthropy
Out of charcoal and soot their heads were born
I gave my best, but it wasn't much appreciated
I used to call the police when Mum hurt herself
When everything was bad in the worst of lands
I still dream of that knife she held in her hand
When I wake up I find myself drenched in sweat
And while my dark days really have no bearing on me
I'll try my best to understand what's happening
And while I separate myself from what I've seen
I won't try to forget to keep the best of me

I saw a dog run through the night
When I thought that I was blind
Until an unknown shot out the lights
And left me behind

When you were young you loved me for what I had done
But you hated the person that I had become
I couldn't help myself so I decided to move along
I think you knew this day just somewhen had to come
When it was done it didn't feel finished at all
They put the body to the cross, but He didn't die
Think we should move into a colony of lepers and thieves
I feel inspired when I see them next to me

I saw a dog run through the night
When I thought that I was blind
Until an unknown shot out the lights
And left me behind
I saw a dog run through the night
When I thought that I was blind
Until an unknown shot out the lights
And left me behind
