Tantalus

Deceiver stole from the gods
Selfishly acted the thief
Betrayed them and broke their trust
Secrets he couldn't keep

But the worst was yet to come
'Twas not too late to repent
Of all the things he had done
The next made them forever resent

Repulsive, to my disgust
His son faced a horrible fate
Cut apart and boiled in blood
His dead body served on a plate

All of this just to test
Would they know?
Would they see?
Certain was his death
In hell he met his destiny

Eternal deprivation
Never will he satisfy
His temptations
Always receding, ever eluding

Purposeful punishment
Never will he quench his thirst
Forever wanting
Never receiving

This delusion, far too obvious
In seclusion, will he remain

Eternal deprivation
Never will he satisfy
His temptations
Always receding, ever eluding

Purposeful punishment
Never will he quench his thirst
Forever wanting
Never receiving
