Ice Storm 2008 (Merry Christmas)
Cars on the street are covered in snow
The world woke up white and we got nowhere to go
So we fill our coffee cups with another round
And watch the quiet streets outside as flakes fall to the ground
And we smile to each other as the record spins around
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas
We put our jackets on and go for a walk
The neighbors are building snowmen just down the block
The people share our smiles, as they can relate
Yeah, we're forced to accept the things that we cannot change
So we smile to each other and say
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas
Yeah they called it Ice Storm 2008
We were stuck on a hill and so we sledded all day
Pretend that work didn't ever exist
And we laughed at all the trouble that we were in
And we watched the bold one's try to leave
Like the Land Rover on Lizzie's street
As it ping-ponged off of parked cars
Before the driver abandoned all his chances at the bottom
And we drink hot whiskey, apple cider
And took the bus down the the theatre
Was the happiest busload of people alive
As we white-knuckle laughed and prayed aliyd we don't die
It was this pervasive, post-war feeling
Like a bomb had dropped and folks were reeling
But the damage was snow and ice
And it became the common ground that helped us see eye to eye
So we smiled to each other and said
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas
The world woke up white and we got nowhere to go
