The Blackened Bloom

the blackened bloom
jagged stem drooping toward the ground I'm moving through
one eye, pound of flesh less, coming for my tooth,
saying sooth,
sideways crooked stance always pointed towards the truth,
foretold like fivefold points of light bringing morning.
burning bright like it was raining Orange,
this is the wasteland
we are the prey
and not one of us is safe
but not one of us will lay low.
lay low.
blackened bloom,
branding iron,
cross me like the wires you see me through,
sired like bloodlined lies draw cardinal lines,
withered rose,
shifting poles,
the needle points away from Rome,
foretold like fivefold points of light somewhere northern,
burning skies like I become the aurora,
like a dark horse,
so far north,
a black speck swallowed by the spectres in the snow drift,
a torch in the darkness the morning star,
morning star, in the negatives.
