Fade To Gloom

Flickering and wavering
Glowing little things moving through meadows
Flickering and wavering
All through the grassy hills just after sundown

Homes within the caves in lakes
Or underneath the lily pads they wander
Shimmering reflecting all the colors
Leaves them floating on the water

Behind a mask of leaves talking to magpies
Suffer a deep longing in their absence

Been cloud-popping in a dream
With a raincoat so thin it couldn't hide my wings
So many things fit in a tear
Now with you in my rear view
Everything fades to gloom

Bounces like a rubber ball
Then frozen in place 'til dawn and undercover
He left a kiss under a rock
Along with things he keeps hidden from sunlight
Among shoelaces he has taken
From the girls that gather daisies in the summer
Where the breeze wakes up the leaves
Of long past falls and turns them into dancers

Forces that created universes
Say there's more wisdom in their dance than in those pages

Breathe life in, now breathe it in
The stillness of the wind
