Green

I remember the old days, when I was still green.
And so was the world all around.
Now I see in its true colours and the difference between,
What it should be and what I found.

Green is the world, that was given to me.
Beautiful, gentle and clean.
But if you want to get on and go far in the end,
You'd be better off without being green.

So I did go and see, what's going on in the world.
Just doing the things, most people do.
And I joined in their races, for all I was worth.
But I wasn't so long in seeing through,

Green is the world, that was taken from me.
So empty, it had never been.
For if you want to get on and go far in the end,
You should better look down on green.

Then I got bad feelings and I take it to heart,
Green is the child, having been disowned.
And I ought to try to get it back in my arms.
Just like a good father, I should have grown.

Green is the world, that was given to me.
Innocent, peaceful and clean.
And if you want to be honest and fair to yourself,
You'd better have much feeling.
You'd better have much feeling for green.
