Grace

I found grace again
She was sitting in the woods
Way down at the bottom of the field
Behind her big white house
With a bottle of wine
And an intoxicating smile
I found grace

She said she'd been waiting for me
To come back to
The sacred place we'd known so long ago
Beside her
And I cried take me as I am
With these unclean lips and dirty hands
I found grace

I heard her voice
Singing and ringing through the live oaks
I saw her body
In a cotton dress
With a bottle of wine
Grace found me this time

With her left hand
She held her dress above her knee
As she waded into the creek
Her right hand beckoning to me
Will you follow me?
Will you stay with me?
I found Grace

I said the last time
We were so young
I never knew that this was paradise
Till I'd gone
She said time
Time Is a bitter old man
Let's just be young again
