Purple Friend

Dove folding wings, clouds rolling in
Ringing the sun in crests
Dove banks left, tail straight stiff ruddering sky covered in
Rose, violet and blue
Through
Dusk to eve dove is travelling beauties ravishing
Figures wrathful in the sky
As shadows in an Indian play, a purple swathe
Tipped with points of white are arcing waves
Bangles jangle as the beauties create across night a sight fantastic
Figures of fright grimace and reach as though elastic
Drastic storm on the horizon
Dove rising as emotion ocean darkens
Sky hardens, clouds parting, lightning splinters
The moon is a glint of silver on the ocean marbled
A marvel of a vision

It's a sign of the times when
We have to say goodbye
To our purple friend

Nothing compares to you
And the songs you penned
My purple friend

Moon full dragging ocean, dove coasting
Open winged floating in star light blots
Atop the ocean are pin prick dots
Rocked by the thunder of the figures of wrath
Lulled by the tinkle of the bangle clash
Smash do the waves as bull on tree
Pulling free of storm and night
Morning light goes the white bird
To wood returned
Among silver birch and tulip through this quiet buttercup and lavender
The last of the scavengers returns to den mouthing hen cock crows
Earth is again
Dove folding wings clouds rolling in ringing the sun in crests
Dove banks left
Tail straight stiff ruddering, sky covered in rose, violet and blue

It's a sign of the times when
We have to say goodbye
To our purple friend

Nothing compares to you
And the songs you penned
My purple friend

My purple friend

My purple friend

My purple friend

My purple friend
