Needle and the Pine

we set out to tell our stories well
like creatures in the woods we came to dwell
but you had not a saviour, a mother in black lace.
i found you there, your fallen thoughts upon the ground.
& on the rooftop, head ringing, spun you in the wind,
you landed there in that bottle in the end

the needle in the pine
doctors me. shes breaking all my teeth in my sleep.
wrenching over these half dreams, the needle in the pine, doctor's me.

we may not know this stories end.
a drum beat or a note it'll keep ringing
& after midinght, no carriage, new year comes in with
the footprints in the white, we run the night
but you were not a saviour, found one in that place
the mother of amends echoed and ends

the needle in the pine, doctors me.
she's breaking all my teeth in my sleep
wrenching over these, half dreams
the needle in the pine doctored me, she doctored me.
