Caprock Sunrise

The place that I've been living ain't what I call home
These concrete trees around me don't give much room to roam
When I look up at the night sky all I see are city lights
And I find myself longing for that Texas line

I'm longing for a West Texas sunset
Sweep me off my feet
Waltz me away down a dirt highway covered in mesquite
Take me to the edge of the canyon where the view is far and wide
And I'll count my blessings as I count the stars in the sky
Then I'll welcome that caprock sunrise

I left the open plains in search of a dead end dream
Out here chasing fireflies with a net that has no string
I thought I'd find what I was searching for but soon I realized
That everything I want is across the Texas line

I'm longing for a West Texas sunset
Sweep me off my feet
Waltz me away down a dirt highway covered in mesquite
Take me to the edge of the canyon where the view is far and wide
And I'll count my blessings as I count the stars in the sky
I'm longing for a West Texas sunset
Sweep me off my feet
Waltz me away down a dirt highway covered in mesquite
Take me to the edge of the canyon where the view is far and wide
And I'll count my blessings as I count the stars in the sky
Then I'll welcome that caprock sunrise

Lord take me home to that caprock sunrise
