The Vanished One

Distant and bored
His clouded face resembles the sky
His practical wife calls
"What's wrong love?"
"Nothing", he says. "Nothing"
A cold stare at unfinished words
The door shuts without a sound

He saw her today
On the roof of a house
She gave him a smile
As she jumped to the ground
He reached for her hand
But his efforts in vain
Like the shadows of September
She vanished again

She'd lose her voice
And change her eyes
But never ever even try
To be one that someone could know
To be one that
Someone could know

One, she had laughed with
But the others didn't try to understand
One tore her dress and dashed her words
Against the wall
The last never needed anyone at all

One day her heart fell out
Into her hands
Bluish-grey
Aged inside a hollow cage

She promised then that she would go
Where no one would ever say
"Here's love for you"
And take it away

Spiders filled the corners
Of their eyes
Where tears had once been
Madness seethed just an inch below
Looking for cracks to get in
Looking for cracks
To get in
