Getting There

So this is what it sounds like
To be list'ning for a moment.
To tune out chatter in my head
And tune into the world instead.

And this is what it looks like
With eyes open for a moment
To notice what's outside of me
To look around and really see

And there's a strange kind of clarity
A strange kind of harmony
And I stop and breathe the life that's in the air
So this is what it feels like to be here...
Instead of getting there

Just look at all these people
Colliding for a moment
I've trained myself to just ignore
And shut the chaos out before

But this is how it feels
To be alive in new york city
To stop and live inside my skin
To breathe and let the madness in...

To let in the heat of all the bodies
The vibration of the car
To see all these different faces
And the clues to who they are
And there's gum on the seats
And graffiti on the wall
But it's real
And it's here
And i'm part of it all!

So this is what it feels like
To be happy in the moment
To realize it's okay
We all get stuck along the way

And there's a strange kind of family
A strange kind of harmony
You can feel if you're open and aware
And this is what it feels like to be here...

And happy in the moment...
And getting there!!

Getting there!
