All a Dream
My quest to be a famous rapper started when I was 6
Scribbling, trying to make sense on a piece of paper
See, I was influenced by many hits from way back
Like flavor in the air remix by Craig Mack
Hip-hop was all that
I used to fall back on a chair, screaming out
"yeah!" while bumping hard tracks
So, I knew exactly what I wanted to be
Problem was getting my pops and my mom to agree
"See, you never get degree, u dey chop my garri
Abegi no dey mention music when u dey talk to me"
So I'd lock myself up in my room, in stealth, plotting my moves
To move from nothing to topping the news
"Moms coming!!!" quickly tossing my books
Pretend to be snoring, i snooze
Minute she passes, I'm back to the truth
Problem is I was in secondary school, never been in a recording booth
So therefore, the truth is that
It was all a dream
I knew I had a skill, I needed to reveal
Was searching for a deal
It was all a dream
Because every time I rap, I'm always getting claps
And the audience is packed
It was all a dream
I just needed one chance, to reach out to my fans
To make the people dance
It was all a dream
'Said I could build a dream, if you let me do my thing
Like Martin Luther king
It was all a dream!
Okay its '98, graduated from king's college
I'm rhyming great, educated with real knowledge
I passed both the WAEC and SSCE
So really, doing both of them wasn't necessary
Since drawing and writing rhymes were my best hobbies
So I thought! studying archi. would be just lovely
Until my parents called me
Said they wanted me to study Elect Elect
Because my uncle was making mad money
Said he got books that he could give me, that he'll teach me
I didn't pay them any mind, until the dude convinced me, busy
Flossing his new car keys, crib and a phone
Got dollar signs in my eyes, wanted a crib of my own
I was a dum sissy, I let them all trick me
1st and second choice, filled the dam jamb form quickly
I did it, got admitted, was careful with the digit
By 300 level nah! I really didn't feel it
Then I started spitting lyrics, and it appeared that I lost my way
Because some lecturers decided to touch my grades
Never minding, I grew, wild with a passion
Could rhyme everlasting till I needed Aspirin
Wherever I rapped the fans be attracting
From class hear the crowd scream
Was crowned Unilag's king
Bamboo box was the shack we were housed in
For styles i was mastering, grew large on the rap scene
It was all a dream
I knew I had a skill, I needed to reveal
Was searching for a deal
It was all a dream
Because every time I rap, I'm always getting claps
And the audience is packed
It was all a dream
I just needed one chance, to reach out to my fans
To make the people dance
It was all a dream
'Said I could build a dream, if you let me do my thing
Like Martin Luther king
It was all a dream!
I woke up in a bed room, from under my spread I heard
"mmh, thanks hun it was fun., got to be out of here soon"
Lit a cigarette, smoke only revealed her silhouette
Seem to have met her before but its someone that I didn't know yet
So whose she? watched as she wore guchi
She turned slow like a scene in a movie "Oluchi!"
The model of my dreams, "What happened to your ring?"
She smooshed me and said
"Don't worry, I would yan you everything"
As the conversation grew, I took a panoramic view
Walls full of plaques, from the battle rhyming too
Switched on the plasma TV, on the box I see me
Britney, Usher, talking to Oprah Winfrey
Signing autographs, smiling while taking photographs
Men am happy, I could get used to this sort of laugh!
So much money, I forgot about my hunger
Things that crowded my mind, I thought about no longer
Then I uncovered the blinds
To see myself dressed in the same boxer jeans
"Mtcheuw!"
It was all a dream
I knew I had a skill, I needed to reveal
Was searching for a deal
It was all a dream
Because every time I rap, I'm always getting claps
And the audience is packed
It was all a dream
I just needed one chance, to reach out to my fans
