Temporary Homes

I found out at an early age what I see is temporary
Friends don't stay friends when you're out of sight
So I stuck close to family
If everything's fading I think that's okay with me
The change keeps me who I am
Even though it's contrary

I grew up without a home town
Where my brothers were my best friends
We'd find a town and settle down
Then leave before we could settle in
But it's a good thing that this place
Isn't my home for very long
Because as much as I try
To stay around I'm always
I'm always moving on

As years went by I learned the value of loyalty
It takes courage to take a stand
And heart to believe in anything
Seems like the only things people cling to
Are what's fading
But my strings are cut
I won't be held down by anything

I won't give up my life
For what's fleeting
I won't bleed and I won't die
For what's changing
I won't give up my life
For what's fading
I won't bleed and I won't die
I won't die
