Ramblin' Song

Up on the mountain under the sun
I saw John with his rucksack on
He whistled a song as he walk past
He had a compass and map and a thermos flask
Down by the river I saw Trevor
He past comment on the weather
I said back there it's blowing a gale
He said it wouldn't reach three on the beaufort scale
Down in the village I saw Marion
Struggling with the wool she was carrying
I said where are you going with all that fleece
She said I'm going to knit a jumper for my nephew and niece
And all of our friends are ramblers
They ramble round these lands
With bright red socks
They scramble over rocks
With a bar of Kendal mint cake in their hands
Ewe
Down in the pasture I saw Alistair
Fast asleep in his combine harvester
Flask of tea and a sticky bun
Radio four and the archers on
Down in the dairy I saw Mary
One of her bulls was turning lairy
She said go and fetch my husband John
He's got a new quad so it won't take long
And all of our friends are ramblers
They ramble round these lands
With bright red socks
They scramble over rocks
With a bar of Kendal mint cake in their hands
Ewe
Rucksack
