With Injustice

On the night in question, as I run to survive
Gettin' lost in the darkness for a place to hide
My heart beating out my chest, feet heavy as rocks
But only for a moment, I can't afford to stop
Because they're looking for me, there's a bounty on my head
Am I worth more alive, or better off dead
Am I worth more as a person or just property
Either way, I refuse to be a commodity
A shot rings out, followed by the dogs
As I run out of breath, begging mercy from God
Pleading for deliverance I'm hoping just that
I'm still alive if they take me back
Then my knees buckle, stumble from the uneven ground
I'm tryin' to get up, but I'm already pinned down
Why'd you make us chase you? as they gather around
But can't even answer cuz they kick me around
Beat my face 'til it bled as they stomped me on my head
And before I blacked out, I heard one of them said
I hoped you learned your lesson, boy! You need to know your place
Now stand up Nigger before I shoot you in the face
But to no avail, I ignored their commands
Not out of defiance, but because I couldn't stand
And with all the blood loss and my body went cold
With Injustice, just another lost soul
