Straw and Shadows

I built a wall to keep them safe from glowing eyes
Men of straw and shadows growing stronger every night
In a silent protest built my castle one more flight
Until their numbers stop and turn in
The children's safety must be certain

But it all went wrong
The men of straw were growing much too strong

In a panic I did what I thought would be best
Every moment went to fight this impending death
When the brick and mortar cut a hole across the sky
And a mist of white sent shivers down my spine

But a sudden pull
The wall came tumbling down below
And I didn't know
What was lurking in the waters close to home

I can't see them anymore
I can't see you, oh
I can't see them anymore
I can't see you, oh

I can't see them anymore
I can't see you, oh
I can't see them anymore
I can't see you, oh

I can't see them anymore
I can't see you, oh

But I didn't know
What was lurking in the waters close to home
