The Quiet

Quietly he sits ands stares at the door.
Anticipating. But there is never anything more.
All around him life has moved on.
If he moves, then, that means they're gone.

Some people change, some people run away
Some people hide, some people stay

Quietly he sits and counts the days
Practices all the things that he's going to say.
He'd tell them that he was sorry, he'd say he was wrong.
But if he moves, then that means they're gone.

Some people change, some remain the same
Some people try, some people take the blame
Some people change, some people run away
Some people hide, some people stay

He won't recognize, tells himself the same lies
That they'll be coming home, coming home
In the quiet he waits, stares at the light around doorframe
At any time, they'll be coming home, coming home

Some people change, some remain the same
Some people try, some people take the blame
Some people change, some people run away
Some people hide, some people stay

As I sit and stare into his eyes, I can see
The old man in the chair, is me.
