Blindsight

He knows the storm beneath my skin
What I deal with deep within
The world beyond the tight confines
In the caverns of my mind

He was born completely blind to light
With another kind of sight
A seventh hidden sense
Untaught intelligence

I'm in the middle of a war
Fighting fights no one can

Solving the riddle of it all
Like a blindsighted man

Since I was little
When I fall
He's been silently holding my hand

So what have I learned after all that I've tried
Can I take every turn like a riding tide
When it all goes downhill
Keep both hands on the wheel until
The world is standing still

And I can respond with loving kindness
To make everyone feel they are mine
Even if I may fall, can I do it with a pride
And the corner I fought continues to shine

To keep lying down until I am able to stand
Be wise enough to know when and where it began
And see how it all gets lost in the sand over time

Thrown to the middle of a war
Fighting fights no one can

Solving the riddle of it all
Like a blindsighted man

Since I was little
When I fall
He's been silently holding my hand
