In the Valley

The air is still and the fog is dense, I've got to go
In the distance a sound of bells but the Shepherd's gone
I plowed my way through the flock of sheep and the milk white fog
Thatched cottage, no answered knocks and the door was locked
Now I remember that something sort of pushed me from behind
Though I was lying flat in my bed with my heavy head
Was I gently shoved out of life?
No packing bags, no saying goodbyes
Keep my memories in my head instead
And there ain't no left to leave anyway

There were moments, even years free from tears
The sun applauded my smile all day since not a cloud appeared
Most of my friends would soon understand
That your future will slide through your hands
If you don't pull your head out of the blue
and leave behind your youth

A growing darkness year by year. Extinguished life
Not that sad 'cause these last years of emptiness I can do without
Oooh now I wait alone in the misty morning
Oooh when will the Shepherd arrive to bring some order here
And I speak to the sheep but they just keep staring me back
With their indifferent, stupid, empty eyes
Here he comes with a promise, there's nothing left to fear
He's all dressed in shadows as we walk across the meadows
In awe, such awe
And I started to freeze as the world that I know
Started to fade away forever
Away, away
And when I tried to bewail out of me came a bleating sound
