The Ghost

I've lived in this house
For 200 years
Quiet as a mouse
I got nothing to fear
Folks come along
Occasionally
They don't stay for long
When they see me

I got long flowing robes
I wander 'bout the place
People hit the road
When they see my face
But I like to mess around
Have some fun
Make sure the people in town
Know this house belongs to someone

I am the ghost
Yeah
This is my house
I don't wanna be your host
If you come in here
You better be prepared
Cause I am the ghost
That rattles round the stairs

Stories go around
About this mansion
So tourists come
With little apprehension
I don't want to show myself
To all these people
So I stay up here
And hide in the steeple

Now there's a van outside
And people coming through
They've got these weird machines
And camera crews
I am not gonna stand
For this intrusion
Gonna give these guys
A night of confusion

I am the ghost
Yeah
This is my house
I don't wanna be your host
If you come in here
You better be prepared
Cause I am the ghost
That rattles round the stairs

Now I think
I've taken it too far
There are rotting bodies
All across the floor
And a bunch of new ghosts
And they are mad at me
So much for my house
For my private eternity

I am the ghost
Yeah
This is my house
I don't wanna be your host
If you come in here
You better be prepared
Cause I am the ghost
That rattles round the stairs
