Oceans

Billowing sea snakes
Tangling with these fates
An overgrown coral reef

Oxygenated
While we separated
Our seaweed mask
From our fig leaf

Well I don't mind you riding the tide
I've had worse jellyfish stings
I've got a clamshell with motives inside
If you find that hard to believe

The sand in my toes
Salt water in my nose
And a hot wind bore down on my back

I'd be much more shallow
Blue covered in aloe
The deeper, the more it seems black

Well I don't confide in the surf or the sound
Like a shell hear myself echoing
I can see no more land than this unstable ground
And the gulls gather round like thieves

I am holding on to sunlight I am holding on to water

Oh, sink or float, oh
Oh, sink or float, oh
Oh, sink or float, oh
Oh, sink or float, oh

I am holding on to sunlight I am holding on to water
