Exodus
Comin' outta sin, man I gotta make an Exodus
Comin' outta sin, man I gotta make an Exodus
I gotta exit this
"Whoever has ears to hear," listen to my narrative
I'm laying out analogies that you may find imperative
The book of Exodus, just in case you weren't aware of it
Is applicable today, so we should take some time to cherish it
Each and every person is held captive by their own
Personal Egypt, even when they're safe at home
And the only way that we can escape this plight?
Is the power of the Lord, His plan and His might
I'm crossin' the Red Sea, man, oh what a sight
But only through the Lord, man, oh what a guide
A cloud by day, and a fire by night
Reaching a new height - call it Mount Sinai
Crushing hunting chariots, I don't even have to fight them
He can stand tall even times when I might bend
God calls us out of our Egypt, our sin
And into eternity with Him
Comin' out of darkness and into the light
I see a cloud by day and a fire by night
Comin' out of sin, man I gotta make an Exodus
I gotta exit this - call it an Exodus
In chapter five Pharaoh had the last straw
And told the Israelites they had to work harder than ever
This can often be a good lesson for us all
Things might get worse before they get better
In the story of Exodus we like to think we're Moses, but
Much more often we're the problem, like Pharaoh was
Even when we aren't, and we really are Moses
We're Moses in 4:13, and we don't even notice
Saying "please send someone else" - I don't wanna do this myself
It's clear we need help, take your Bible off your shelf
We gotta die to self, but I can't do this on my own
Doin' things I can't condone, feelin' bad to the bone
But in Him I place my faith, pressing on to end the race
It's His fire that I chase, I see that cloud up ahead
I'll keep growin' till I'm dead, I'll keep reading what He said
And I don't have to worry 'cause He's the One who led
Comin' out of darkness and into the light
I see a cloud by day and a fire by night
Comin' out of sin, man I gotta make an Exodus
I gotta exit this - call it an Exodus
Comin' out of darkness and into the light
I see a cloud by day and a fire by night
Comin' out of sin, man I gotta make an Exodus
I gotta exit this - call it an Exodus
Comin' out of sin, man I gotta make an Exodus
