Heroin Lullaby
Yeah
It's Arch Jakob
Let me kick this story to y'all real quick for some perspective
This is the lullaby
This is how this shit goes
Yeah, Yeah
Said once upon a time there was a girl, named Caroline
With a bright future—Street smarts and standards high
She's thinking bout moving away, but she can't decide
She knows she can't escape the pain that she feel inside
Then she tried to find a different outlet
She's tryna be social, but its difficult without friends
Seeking salvation, 'til she met a boy named Nathan
Through a girl that stayed across from where they OD daily
For the next couple weeks he was treating her like a queen
Telling her that his love was all that she'd ever need
Tryna dig into her head to make sure that she don't leave
She ain't think nothing of it cause he seemed like he was sweet
Till one day he pulled out a bag of powder
She asked him what it does
He laughed and said "Relax you for hours
What? Are you scared? I didn't know you were a coward"
Making her feel lame saying he'll do it without her
After that she let him help her find the vein in her arm
He said "After you do this, then all your pain will be gone
And there's gon' be a lot of people out here saying 'you're wrong'
But you don't pay 'em any mind 'cause they don't deal with ya thoughts"
As euphoria filled her veins, she started separating from the source
That temporary happiness kept her coming back for more
Spending weeks at a time
Both of 'em passed out on the floor
As the angels & demons come together to sing a song
It sounds like
You must take a lot for granted
(Take my heart for granted)
Because my life is yours today
(Yeah, yeah, this the lullaby)
And after all the times you lied to me
(After every single lie)
I still believe the things you say
Telling everyone she met a guy and he makes her feel great
And how he takes her to a place where she always feels safe
But, as the weeks roll on
She hadn't spoke to her family
And every single high push her closer to damage
Then, one morning while he was tryna come down
He walked into the room and found her out on the couch
Freaking out he tried to check her pulse but she was gone
Then reality hit 'em that all this shit was his fault
He dialed 9-1-1 then he left—I guess he was the coward
Swore to god that he loved her—now he's leaving without her
Thinking bout all the lies he told that defeated her grounding
Then the demons in his head start to feed on him
Doubting himself and his morals
Like, does he even have any?
Before he met Caroline, she used to have plenty
When the guilt start to hit him he ran right back to the dealer
So he could get a bag and a couple syringes
He's shooting up more frequently
Tryna escape his mind and tune out from his own low frequencies
That needle started merging with his life line
Grabbed ahold of him, now he ain't in his right mind
He don't wanna keep using but he's too far gone
And the voices in his head told 'em "Just one more"
So he stuck it in his arm but something was wrong
Then he heard the voice again say that "I'm taking your soul"
Then sung a lullaby
You must take a lot for granted
(Take my heart for granted)
Because my life is yours today
(Yeah, yeah, this the lullaby)
And after all the times you lied to me
(After every single lie)
I still believe the things you say
You must take a lot for granted
