Right in Sight

It's getting cold in Alaska
Colder than it is in the Midwest
I'm getting a warm feeling for Alaska
That I've already got for the Midwest

Mountains are big in Alaska
Most the likes of which most never get to see
And the hills I've seen them rolling in Iowa
And from Iowa I happen to be

Northern lights 9 pm Alaska
The midnight sun sets down at 2 am
But I grew up right in sight of the Mississippi
A river so much bigger than I am

The corn sucks in Alaska
Nothing like the stuff we eat in the Midwest
But the salmon fishing is terrible in Iowa
In either case I guess neither place is the best

Drive from Dubuque to Iowa City
Old Greg Brown is playing at the Mill
Word on the street's Two Little Feet was written on the Kenai
And Early's about a town on an Iowa hill

It's getting cold in Alaska
Colder than it is in the Midwest
I got me this warm feeling for Alaska
That I've already got for the Midwest
