Porch Whistles

I stopped taking showers and started smoking cigarettes again
Its one thing to live a good life
And another to live without sin
They say rehab is for quitters
And you know I always win
If there's one thing that I'm good at
It's getting under my own skin

And maybe some day you can find me
If you study what I left behind
It's a long rode to California
But a longer one to pick apart my mind

And I learned to drive before I grew a backbone
And I learned to drown before I knew how to swim
If you take a walk through the garden of eden please
Pray for my soles as you cover up their prints

And maybe one day I'll learn to feel happy without feeling sick
And you'll learn not to keep your distance
The heart can't grow under a roof thats strict
