When I was small I thought the world was so big
That somewhere Superman's in flight
An evil genius fights a super spy
At his hidden fortress site
It seemed so clear that by next year
We'd be breathing Martian air
Everything would happen everywhere

Years went by and the world shrank down
Now it's just as big as my life
It holds a job and weekends
It's dark and full of strife
Sometimes I check and crane my neck
But all I see is sky
Never superheroes flying by
