Daughter

Early morning, I watch you sleep
Not everyone is as lucky as me
I kiss your forehead, before I leave
Soon we'll be old and forget how it feels

To be young and in love, for the very first time
Build a home of our own
Have a child, and what it's like
When the sun is beginning to rise

Oh, how I hope that if we have a daughter
She'll grow up to be like you
If she sometimes, takes after her father
That would be okay too

We could move to another country
Grow our own food and get a couple of sheep
Or a place in maybe New York city
Right by the Statue of Liberty

'Cause I know I'll be fine
Just as long as I've got you right here by my side
There's no fear in my eyes
So take me wherever you like

And oh, how I hope that if we have a daughter
She'll grow up to be like you
And if she sometimes takes after her father
That would be okay too
