On the Outside Looking In

Four men in the Bible had a friend who was lame
Who lay upon his bed wanting to be whole again
Then they heard about a man who they believed could heal their friend
If they could just get him to Jesus they knew he would walk again
So they carried him unto the place where Jesus was that day
There were so many there to get inside there seemed no way
Then they opened up the roof and slowly let him to the ground
When Jesus saw their faith He healed the man on his way down

He didn't want to be left on the outside looking in
With no hope for his soul no cure for his sin
Outside the gates of heaven and Gods children safe within
He didn't want to be left on the outside looking in

Realizing the condition of my soul that it was lost
I knew I needed something knew I couldn't pay the cost
My troubled heart was breaking and with no relief in sight
Then I recalled an invitation to church that very night

On arriving at the church house I didn't go inside
Maybe it was fear or just my foolish pride
From outside I heard the preaching Jesus knocked at my hearts door
I ran inside knelt at the alter now I'm free for evermore

I didn't want to be left on the outside looking in
With no hope for my soul no cure for my sin
Outside the gates of heaven and Gods children safe within
I didn't want to be left on the outside looking in
