Growing Up

I didn't always know how to think on my own
A lesson that they'd save for me and decide when I was grown
The job of referee that I never applied for
Assigned to me by the ones who said that I was to die for

They wrote me a contract but they had no cooperation
Maybe I was meant to be their over compensation
I received their own commands respectively
They didn't realize the sickness of their test for me

Every time I happened upon a barricade
Their opposite commands turned it into a cage
If I went left or right my progress was subdued
Until I taught myself to smash head first and go straight through
