Blood in the Water

They never promise you that you'll never fall
I can see it's Blood in the Water
And I ain't keeping track but you never call
Save me a plate, 'cause boy I'm starvin'

Runnin' up
Standards
Ain't no way the boy ain't plan it
Ain't no way the boy ain't plan it
I can see it's done damage
Elendil with the kingship
Aragorn with the swordplay
Frodo Baggins with the ring tho
Otis Redding with the soul, ay

I'm from Indiana, came up saying "straight thang"
But I took it to another level that you never been on
So get outta my face, mane
46th and college to the rest of the world and on and on
A young bull from behind the fairgrounds destined to be a phenomenon
He's on a run, ay

So quiet when his song is on
If I ever land a deal, the first thing I'ma do is call my mom
My heart beats for this, why they tryna play me raw?
I promise y'all I'm raw, please tell me what you take me for

But how do I see myself? I ask this question too
Sometimes you forget who you are when too many people question you
Off and on you wish that you could go back to
When no one was messing with you
But never regretting or taking for granted
The plenty of lessons that you

Learned
Along the way, you took the path
That no one traveled but got lost along the way in fact
I made a mess, I made a name, I may have made some cash
But that would never take me back
And them shoes won't help me run from my past

They never promise you that you'll never fall
I-I I can see it's Blood in the Water
And I ain't keeping track but you never call
Save me a plate, 'cause boy I'm starvin'

Runnin' up
Standards
Ain't no way the boy ain't plan it
Ain't no way the boy ain't plan it
I can see it's done damage
Elendil with the kingship
Aragorn with the swordplay
Frodo Baggins with the ring tho
Otis Redding with the soul, ay

In seventh grade, I was bumping Luchi and hitting the jiggalate
At 21, I'm hungry as ever and constantly lookin' for bigger plates
I went away
And ever since I been feeling a weighed on mind
After I left the neighborhood couple years after
The day that Lil Bango died

But local celebrities keep rising and falling like light on a new day
I was never the social anecdote or party animal, or sipping on dusse
I haven't been active enough
I been depressed and I been acting up
Remember acting tough when I was just a little boy in middle school
My homies talking 'bout gats and stuff

Those were the good old days in my mind, I guess time flies
When you're writing rhymes and fighting time
But it feels like somewhere down the line
Everything was lost for me
I went a different way
And the only thing I got out of it all is that I'm gettin' paid

'Cause home base is lately feeling like it's no place
For me to stay
That's why I got up and walked away
I love my city, I guess I just never got it back
So here I go, into the fray
And maybe one day I'll be back

They never promise you that you'll never fall
I can see it's Blood in the Water
And I ain't keeping track but you never call
Save me a plate, 'cause boy I'm starvin'

Runnin' up
Standards
Ain't no way the boy ain't plan it
Ain't no way the boy ain't plan it.
I can see it's done damage
Elendil with the kingship
Aragorn with the swordplay
Frodo Baggins with the ring tho
Otis Redding with the soul, ay

They never promise you that you'll never fall
I can see it's Blood in the Water
And I ain't keeping track but you never call
Save me a plate, 'cause boy I'm starvin'
