Intro
Having been hunted like animals then uprooted and sold as property
To suffer all kinds of brutalities, by this enlightened and Christian Nation
We, the colored people of America
May be the most wretched and tormented set of beings that ever did exist
In consequence of being marred and forgotten beneath the edifice of modern age
Have we travelled so deep into hell
To have nearly lost the very spirit of man?
So deep to have normalized our traumas
Blind to these violations
After murdering so many millions of us
To make us work for them
When enduring the punishment of the worlds most devilish owners
Is there any wonder why so many of us have become thugs?
Why should we be glad?
Having broken us down so cruelly
And ripping our families apart
Could there be any secret why there are so few healthy homes?
These Americans
Making us work in ignorance and in miseries to support them and their families
Is that why we should be grateful?
For outlawing our human dignity, and our education
And discharging us to this new, more insidious enslavement of disenfranchisement?
Tell me, because Africans have made fortunes for thousands of Americans
Yet we are now the outcasts of society
Marginalized to be glad with the crumbs of the land
Segregated into hoods to live among rats!
This land which we have enriched and watered with our tears and our blood
Indeed, the greatest riches in all America have arisen from our busyness
Could it be then, that America is more our country, than it is the whites?
It is in this brave and mighty nation
To which we were brought
Where we intend to redeem our power and dignity
Yes, by the strength of our souls and endurance of our hands
Created vast riches for America
And therefore, belong to it just as much as anyone else
For far too long we have been taught to believe we are no more than subordinate apes
But now I say unto you
Throw off your heavy cloaks of falsehoods, look into yourselves
Yes, my dear beloved Roses of Rich and Gorgeous Hue
Reclaim your glory, and receive your mighty inheritance
In your amazing, land of Liberty!
