Show of a Lifetime

When you take a smiling look at those faded photographs
With every Kodak moment, am I still good for a laugh?
You always looked to me to say the right thing, but half the time
My thoughts weren't worth your penny, so please don't waste another dime

Because there's plenty of idiots and far too many clowns
The world's still full of hypocrites, but I think I'll stick around
'Cause you never know just how the story turns out in the end
And a lifetime for this kind of show is not too much to spend

When the road less traveled finally needs to be repaved
I guess I'll try and hitch a ride, but I'm not sure I'll behave
I'm sure that somewhere there's a place where everything makes sense
So help me to tear down this wall I've been banging my head against

Because there's plenty of idiots and far too many clowns
The world's still full of hypocrites, but I think I'll stick around
'Cause you never know just how the story turns out in the end
And a lifetime for this kind of show is not too much to spend

When the doctors and the nurses can all read, but not comprehend
I'll close my eyes, and count to ten, and I'll try not to offend
And when the temple's full of money-changers, who aren't' sure why they're there
I won't turn over any tables, but I'll try and clear the air

Because there's plenty of idiots and far too many clowns
The world's still full of hypocrites, but I think I'll stick around
'Cause you never know just how the story turns out in the end
And a lifetime for this kind of show is not too much to spend
