ii. Broken Instrument – I've Heard Legends

Lost in a crazy place home to where all the rejects live.
Peace does not exit in this space for fate did not prove to forgive.
I've heard legends of darkness and glory.
Everybody knows the part of this story where the
night rules the day and death takes another victim as prey.
Depression drained the strong of their
strength and captivity killed freedom with axe of hate.
This part of the legend is not hard to
believe as these things happen even today.
But legends say that glory stepped in to defend the broken.
I've heard legends where the light
defeats the night and depression loses the fight.

I've heard legends of life slaying the throats of death
triumphantly while liberty rises the
power and takes captivity into slavery.
I've heard legends where love floods the forces of
evil with grace and virtue. But you know these are legends.
I've yet to find if there are really true.
If miracles are real I'd like a way out of this landfill.
But there's no hope inside that I can see.
There's no answer to the plate that I repeat.
The wind cares my cry beyond the junkyard gates.
And I without a reason why stare at them.
Oh, everyday I stare.

That's all I do is stare at the gates.
And they open sometimes and in comes the garbage track buring more
junk, buring my luck of ever being found.
May as well stop crying because no one can hear my sound.
I'm buried so deep may as well be
six feet under ground by the same token.
I cannot help that I've heard legends.
Legends of a hope and a future.
Legends that somewhere there exist the one that is my maker.

And I've heard legends, oh, I've heard legends that he loves me
